Side Effects

Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults: 2 tablets taken every 12 hours. For severe infections, the dose may be increased to 3 tablets every 12 hours.

Not recommended for children under 6 years in tablet form. Maximum treatment duration: usually 5 to 14 days depending on the severity and type of infection.
Contraindications
Avoid use in cases of severe liver or kidney failure, blood disorders like megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency, or a known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides. It must not be administered to infants under 2 months of age.

- Maintain adequate fluid intake to prevent the formation of crystals in the urine.
- Exercise caution if you have asthma, severe allergies, or a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
- Discontinue immediately if a skin rash or any sign of a severe adverse reaction appears.

Interactions may occur with blood thinners like warfarin, anti-seizure medications such as phenytoin, or certain diabetes medicines. It can also increase the levels of potassium if taken with specific heart medications or diuretics.
