It is also effective against bronchitis and uncomplicated gonorrhea. It works by preventing the growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria.

Side Effects
EZCEF Cefixime 200mg common side effects include: diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Other possible side effects are indigestion, gas, and vomiting. Some side effects can be serious, such as severe stomach pain, bloody stools, or fever. Directions and Dosage
- Adults (12+ years or weighing >45kg): 400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hours.
- Kids (6 months to 12 years or weighing ≤45 kg): 8 mg/kg of body weight daily, taken as a single dose or divided into two doses (4 mg/kg every 12 hours).
Safety and efficacy have not been established for infants under 6 months. For infections caused by *Streptococcus pyogenes*, the medicine should be administered for at least 10 days to ensure full treatment.
Contraindications
This medicine should be avoided by individuals with a known hypersensitivity to the ingredients or to other cephalosporin antibiotics. Use with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy as there may be a risk of cross-reaction.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Studies in animals suggest no important effects on the fetus. It is not known if the medicine is excreted in breast milk.
Special Precautions
- This medicine is effective against bacterial infections and will not work for viral infections like colds or the flu.
- Prolonged or repeated use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.
