It is effective against respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and streptococcal pharyngitis. This medication is also used as an alternative for patients allergic to penicillin and for the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever.

Side Effects

ERZIN Erythromycin 500mg common side effects include: gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Some patients may experience mild allergic reactions including skin rashes. These effects are usually mild and temporary, subsiding as treatment continues.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and children over 8 years: 250-500mg every 6 hours or 500mg every 12 hours. Maximum daily dose: 4g
  • Children 4-8 years (20-30kg): 250mg every 6-8 hours
  • Children 1-4 years (10-20kg): 125mg every 6-8 hours

Duration of treatment: Typically 7-14 days depending on infection severity. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to erythromycin or other macrolide antibiotics. History of hepatitis or liver dysfunction associated with prior erythromycin use. Concomitant use with certain medications that prolong QT interval.
