Indications / Uses

CIPRODIN-FC Ciprofloxacin 500mg is used for the treatment of a broad range of severe bacterial infections in adults, targeting susceptible organisms across different body systems. This includes management of respiratory tract infections, such as acute sinusitis and certain pneumonias, and complicated infections of the urinary tract. Furthermore, it is indicated for treating chronic bone and joint infections, as well as complex skin and soft tissue infections caused by sensitive bacteria.

Side Effects

CIPRODIN-FC Ciprofloxacin 500mg common side effects include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, along with central nervous system effects such as dizziness and headache. A major concern is the potential for serious damage to the tendons, including rupture, which can occur at any time during treatment. Other serious effects include peripheral nerve damage (neuropathy) and the potential for a severe increase in photosensitivity when exposed to sunlight.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years) with Uncomplicated Infections: The typical dosage is 250 mg to 500 mg every 12 hours.
• Dosage for Adults (18+ years) with Severe or Complicated Infections: The dosage is 500 mg to 750 mg every 12 hours.
• Dosage for Kids and Adolescents: Use in individuals under 18 years is generally restricted to specific severe infections, typically dosed at 10 mg to 20 mg per kg of body weight, two times daily.

The maximum daily dosage should not exceed 1500 mg. Treatment duration varies widely depending on the infection, ranging from 3 to 14 days or longer for complex cases.

Contraindications

Avoid use in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the compound or to any related fluoroquinolone products. It is strictly prohibited for patients taking tizanidine, as this combination can lead to dangerously low blood pressure and sedation.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Due to the risk of affecting developing cartilage and joints, this compound is not recommended during gestation. Since the active substance is secreted into maternal milk, alternative feeding is necessary while undergoing treatment.

Special Precautions

• Discontinue immediately if signs of tendon inflammation or pain occur due to the risk of rupture.
• Use with caution in individuals with conditions that predispose to seizures or those with reduced kidney function.
• Minimize exposure to strong natural or artificial light during treatment to avoid severe skin reactions.
• Exercise care in individuals with known heart rhythm irregularities.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Co-administration with blood thinning agents may increase the risk of bleeding, requiring close monitoring. Products containing magnesium, aluminum, iron, or zinc can significantly impair the absorption of the compound, so separation of intake times is crucial. Avoid combination with a certain muscle relaxant as it can cause a severe drop in blood pressure.
