Indications / Uses

CEFLOR Cefaclor 125mg / 5mL Suspension is used for the treatment of various susceptible bacterial infections throughout the body. This includes infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, such as pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis. It is also utilized for treating middle ear infections (otitis media), infections of the skin and soft tissues, and specific urinary tract infections like cystitis.

Side Effects

CEFLOR Cefaclor 125mg / 5mL Suspension common side effects include hypersensitivity reactions, which may manifest as skin rashes, urticaria, or fever. Other frequently reported effects involve the gastrointestinal system, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Additionally, users may experience genital pruritus (itching), vaginitis, or secondary infections like moniliasis. Although rare, severe reactions resembling serum sickness or anaphylaxis are possible.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Infants (Over 1 month) and Children: The usual daily dosage is 20 mg per kg of body weight, divided and administered in 3 separate doses.
• Dosage for Severe Infections (including otitis media): The daily dosage may be increased to 40 mg per kg of body weight, also divided and administered in 3 separate doses.
• Maximum Daily Dosage: Do not exceed a total daily dosage of 1000 mg (1 gram).

Not recommended for infants under 1 month old. Maximum treatment duration is typically 7 to 10 days.

Contraindications

Avoid use by individuals with a known history of severe allergic reaction or sensitivity to similar types of antibacterial agents, particularly cephalosporins. A high degree of caution is necessary for those who have previously experienced allergic reactions to penicillin-type medications.

Special Precautions

• Use with caution in individuals who have a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis or other chronic bowel disorders.
• Adjustments may be necessary for those with reduced kidney function, and monitoring is advised during high-dose or prolonged treatment.
• Observe closely for any signs of superinfection caused by non-susceptible organisms during therapy.
• Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing bleeding disorders.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Concurrent administration with certain medications used to treat gout may inhibit excretion, potentially leading to increased concentrations in the body. Use with other agents known to affect kidney function, such as some injectable antibacterials, requires careful consideration due to enhanced risk.

How should I store it?

Keep the powder at a temperature not exceeding 30°C and protect it from light. Once reconstituted, the liquid suspension should be stored in a refrigerator (2-8°C) and discarded after 14 days.
