Indications / Uses

AZOMAC Azithromycin 200mg Suspension is used for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. This medication is also commonly prescribed for otitis media in children and community-acquired pneumonia in both adults and children.

Side Effects

AZOMAC Azithromycin 200mg Suspension common side effects include: gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Some patients may experience mild allergic reactions including skin rashes. These effects are usually mild and temporary, subsiding as treatment continues.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and children over 45kg: Dosage varies by infection type. Typically 500mg on day 1, then 250mg daily for 4 days
• Children 6 months-15 years: 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days. Maximum single dose: 500mg
• Infants under 6 months: Use under medical supervision only

Duration of treatment: Typically 3-5 days depending on infection severity. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics. Severe liver impairment. History of hepatitis or liver dysfunction associated with prior macrolide use.

Special Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment
• May cause gastrointestinal irritation; administer with food if needed
• Superinfections may occur with prolonged use

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Interacts with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium; maintain 2-hour interval. May increase effects of warfarin and other anticoagulants. Always disclose all current medications before use.

How should I store it?

Store unreconstituted powder at room temperature. After reconstitution, keep in refrigerator between 2-8°C. Use within 10 days. Do not freeze.
