Indications / Uses

AZITHRONOVA Azithromycin 500mg is used for treating bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. It is effective against community-acquired pneumonia, otitis media, and pharyngitis.

Side Effects

AZITHRONOVA Azithromycin 500mg common side effects include: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Some patients may experience headache or dizziness during treatment.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (18+ years): 500mg once daily for 3 days. For sexually transmitted infections, a single 1g dose may be prescribed.
• Adolescents (12-17 years): 500mg once daily for 3 days, based on weight and infection severity.
• Children (6 months-11 years): 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days. Maximum single dose: 500mg.

Not recommended for infants under 6 months. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics. History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction with previous azithromycin use.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk - caution advised during breastfeeding.

Special Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function
• May prolong cardiac QT interval - caution in patients with cardiac conditions
• Monitor for signs of superinfection or antibiotic-associated colitis

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May interact with antacids, warfarin, and digoxin. Maintain 2-hour gap between antacid administration. Monitor coagulation parameters with warfarin.

How should I store it?

Store at room temperature below 30°C. Keep in original packaging and protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
