Indications / Uses

AZITHROM Azithromycin 500mg is used for treating bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. It is also effective against middle ear infections and community-acquired pneumonia.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (18+ years): 500mg once daily for 3 days. For certain infections, a single 1g dose may be used. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
• Adolescents (12-17 years): Dose based on weight, typically 500mg once daily for 3 days.
• Children (6 months-11 years): Dose based on body weight, usually 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days. Maximum daily dose: 500mg.

Not recommended for infants under 6 months without medical approval. Treatment duration varies based on infection type but typically does not exceed 5 days for most indications.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics. History of hepatitis or jaundice with previous use.
