Indications / Uses

BETAZAR Betahistine 24mg is used for the treatment of Ménière's syndrome, a condition defined by a triad of core symptoms which include feeling dizzy (vertigo), ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing difficulty. This medication is also indicated for the symptomatic management of vestibular vertigo. It works by improving blood circulation in the inner ear to help reduce pressure buildup.

Side Effects

BETAZAR Betahistine 24mg common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as mild nausea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, bloating, and vomiting. These stomach issues can often be mitigated by taking the tablet with or after food. Other frequently reported side effects involve the nervous system, with headache being noted. More rarely, cutaneous and subcutaneous hypersensitivity reactions like skin rashes, itching, and hives (urticaria) have been observed, and in very rare instances, a severe allergic reaction may occur.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years): The daily dosage is 24 mg to 48 mg, typically divided and taken in 2 or 3 doses over the day.

Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age due to insufficient data on safety and efficacy in this population. Improvement in symptoms may sometimes only be observed after several weeks of treatment, with the best results obtained after a few months.

Contraindications

Avoid use if there is a known sensitivity or allergy to the components of this product. It is also contraindicated for individuals who have a rare tumor of the adrenal gland called a pheochromocytoma.

Special Precautions

• Caution is necessary if you have a current or previous history of a stomach ulcer.
• Individuals with bronchial asthma should be closely monitored during treatment.
• Use with care in patients who experience conditions like hives (urticaria), skin rashes, or allergic rhinitis, as these symptoms may be made worse.
• Care is also advised for those who have severe low blood pressure.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

It may have reduced effectiveness if taken concurrently with antihistamines. Additionally, taking it with drugs that inhibit monoamine oxidase (MAOIs), such as those for depression or Parkinson's disease, requires caution as this combination may increase the concentration of the product in the body.

How should I store it?

The product should be stored in a cool, dry place, ideally between 15°C and 30°C. Protect it from exposure to excessive moisture or humidity.
