It also acts as an anti-inflammatory analgesic, providing symptomatic relief for conditions like juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, it can be used to manage pain and symptoms associated with soft tissue injuries and fever in children. The product is an effective option for conditions where pain and inflammation are present.

Side Effects

ACIFLAM Mefenamic Acid 50mg Suspension for Kids common side effects include: gastrointestinal disturbances like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. The occurrence of diarrhea should prompt a reduction in the amount taken or temporary discontinuation. Serious adverse effects, though less frequent, can include severe gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, or perforation, especially with prolonged use. Other potential effects are dizziness, headache, and hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash. The product may also increase the risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events and can cause fluid retention, which is a concern for individuals with existing heart issues.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Kids over 6 months of age: 25 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses.
• Infants 6 months to under 2 years: 5 mL up to 3 times daily.
• Kids 2 years to under 5 years: 10 mL up to 3 times daily.
• Kids 5 years to under 9 years: 15 mL up to 3 times daily.
• Kids 9 years to 12 years: 20 mL up to 3 times daily.

This product is not recommended for infants under 6 months of age. Therapy should not be continued for longer than 7 days at a time.

Contraindications

The product should be avoided in individuals with a known sensitivity to the active substance or other related pain and inflammation relievers. It is not suitable for people with active or recurrent stomach ulcers, intestinal inflammation, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation. It is also prohibited for those with severe impairment of heart, liver, or kidney function.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

The use of this product during the last three months of pregnancy is strictly advised against due to risks to the fetus. Trace amounts of the active substance may be present in the milk; therefore, use is not recommended while nursing an infant.

Special Precautions

• Use with caution in people with a history of asthma, as it may cause difficulty in breathing.
• Discontinue immediately at the first sign of skin rash, mucosal lesions, or any other sign of an allergic reaction.
• Observe for signs of fluid retention and monitor closely in individuals with pre-existing heart failure or high blood pressure.
• Avoid prolonged use, as it can worsen headaches, which is known as medication overuse headache.
• Caution is advised in individuals with compromised kidney or liver function.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

The product may intensify the effect of anti-clotting agents, necessitating frequent monitoring. Concomitant use with other pain and inflammation relievers or certain steroidal medicines can increase the risk of stomach problems. It can also reduce the effect of some blood pressure medications and may affect the clearance of certain mental health stabilizing agents.

How should I store it?

Keep the oral suspension stored at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Ensure the bottle is kept tightly closed and away from heat and moisture to maintain its quality.
