Indications/Uses
Treatment of bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis & allergic rhinitis concomitant to bronchial asthma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Allergic rhinitis, asthma &/or exercise-induced bronchoconstriction Adult & childn ≥15 yr Two 5-mg tab daily or one 10-mg tab daily. Childn 6-14 yr 5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Not for the treatment of acute asthma attacks including status asthmaticus. Avoid concomitant use w/ aspirin or NSAIDs in patients w/ known aspirin sensitivity. Monitor neuropsychiatric events. Pregnancy & lactation. Infants <6 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, hyperkinesia (in young childn), somnolence; rhinorrhea, cough, flu, upper resp tract infection, nasal congestion, laryngitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, rhinitis, pneumonia, wheezing, tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, viral infection; diarrhea, abdominal pain, infectious gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia; rash, eczema, atopic dermatitis/dermatitis, skin infection, urticaria; asthenia/fatigue, fever, trauma, otic pain, otitis/otitis media, conjunctivitis, myopia, epistaxis, dental pain, varicella, tooth infection, thirst; increased serum ALT & AST, pyuria.
Drug Interactions
Aspirin or other NSAIDs. Decreased AUC w/ phenobarb. Potent CYP450 enzyme inducers eg, rifampicin.
