Side Effects

Directions and Dosage

Do not use with severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min). Avoid in patients with hypersensitivity to piperazine derivatives. Contraindicated with hereditary galactose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndromes.

Not recommended during pregnancy due to limited safety data. Excreted in breast milk - avoid breastfeeding during treatment. Potential risks to infant include sedation and feeding difficulties.

Special Precautions

  • Reduce dose in moderate renal impairment (CrCl 30-49 mL/min)
  • Monitor for CNS depression if operating machinery
  • Increased sensitivity in elderly patients

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Potential increased sedation with CNS depressants like benzodiazepines or alcohol. Limited interaction with theophylline. Separate dosing from antacids by 2 hours.
