Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of dermatoses eg, psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), recalcitrant eczema, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus & other skin conditions which do not respond to less active corticosteroids.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply sparingly to affected area once-bid. Max dose & duration: 50 g/wk for 2 wk.
Contraindications
Rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, primary cutaneous viral (herpes simplex, chickenpox), fungal (candidiasis, tinea) & bacterial infections. Childn <12 yr. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Systemic absorption results in reversible hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia & glucosuria. Avoid contact w/ the eyes. Do not cover treated skin area.
Adverse Reactions
Localized burning & stinging sensation. Itching, skin atrophy, cracking & fissuring of the skin. Folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, allergic contact & perioral dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, striae & miliaria.
