Do I need prescription to buy NOVCLOVIR Aciclovir Cream?

Yes, you need a prescription. But if you don't have one, you can get a free teleconsultation from MedsGo Physician. Just make an order and our Physician will call you back.

Side Effects

NOVCLOVIR Aciclovir Cream common side effects include: transient burning or stinging immediately following application, and mild dryness or flaking of the skin. Less common effects may involve itching, a localized rash, or mild erythema (redness). Systemic absorption following topical use is minimal, therefore, most adverse effects are limited to the application site.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and Children 12 years and older: Apply to affected areas 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals, omitting the night-time dose. Treatment should be initiated as early as possible after the start of an infection, preferably during the prodromal period or when lesions first appear.
  • Treatment Duration: Continue for 4 days for herpes labialis (cold sores) and 5 days for genital herpes. If healing is not complete after the initial duration, treatment may be continued for up to 10 days in total.

Use in children under 12 years has not been fully established, and application should be determined on a case-by-case basis. Do not use more often or for a longer period than specified.

Contraindications

The product should not be used by individuals known to have a hypersensitivity or allergy to the active substance or any of the other components in the formulation.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Systemic exposure is minimal following application to the skin. It should be considered only if the potential benefits justify any potential, unknown risks. Small amounts may be present in milk after application.

Special Precautions

  • For cutaneous use only; avoid application to the eyes.
  • Do not apply to mucous membranes such as inside the mouth or vagina.
  • Particular care should be taken to avoid accidental transfer to the eye.
  • Patients with severely weakened immune systems may have a risk of developing viral strains with reduced sensitivity.
  • The formulation contains excipients like propylene glycol and cetyl alcohol, which may cause localized skin irritations or reactions.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

No clinically significant interactions have been identified when applied topically as directed. Systemic absorption is very low, making interactions with concurrently used medicines highly unlikely.

How should I store it?

Store the product at room temperature, away from excessive heat and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
