Indications / Uses

PRODIX Mupirocin Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, and small wounds. It helps eliminate common pathogens like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. This topical formulation is also effective against methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in minor cuts and abrasions.

Formulation / Ingredients
PRODIX Mupirocin Ointment contains: Mupirocin 20mg per gram (equivalent to 2% w/w).

Side Effects

PRODIX Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include: localized burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Less frequently, it may cause erythema, dryness, or contact dermatitis. Systemic reactions like nausea or headache are rare and typically occur only with extensive application over large areas.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply thin layer 3 times daily. Maximum treatment duration: 10 days.
• Children (2-11 years): Apply thin layer 3 times daily. Maximum treatment duration: 7 days.

Not recommended for infants under 2 years. Apply only to affected areas; avoid large skin surfaces. Discontinue if no improvement occurs after 3-5 days.

Contraindications

Avoid if hypersensitive to mupirocin or related antibiotics. Not for ophthalmic, nasal, or internal use. Do not apply to severe burns or deep puncture wounds.

Special Precautions

• Discontinue immediately if severe irritation or allergic reactions occur
• Avoid contact with eyes, nostrils, or mucous membranes
• Do not use with occlusive dressings unless medically directed

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

No significant interactions reported with systemic medications. Avoid concurrent topical antibiotics unless directed. Allow 1-hour intervals between different topical products applied to same area.

How should I store it?

Store below 25°C. Keep tube tightly closed when not in use. Protect from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Do not freeze.
