Indications / Uses

MUPICAN Mupirocin Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections including impetigo, folliculitis, and infected traumatic lesions. It addresses secondary infected dermatoses caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. This topical antibiotic also helps prevent bacterial colonization in minor wounds, cuts, and abrasions.

MUPICAN Mupirocin Ointment contains: Mupirocin 20mg/g (2% w/w)

Side Effects

MUPICAN Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include: mild burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Some users may experience redness, dryness, or localized rash. Contact dermatitis and allergic reactions occur rarely but require discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply thin layer to affected area 2-3 times daily
• Children (2 months-11 years): Apply thin layer 2-3 times daily

Maximum treatment duration: 10 days. Avoid use on large wound areas or mucous membranes. Not recommended for infants under 2 months.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component. Avoid use on chemical burns or severe tissue damage. Not for ophthalmic, nasal, or internal mucosal use.

Special Precautions

• Discontinue if irritation, severe itching, or rash develops
• Avoid contact with eyes and nasal passages
• Do not use with occlusive dressings unless medically directed

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Topical interactions are unlikely due to minimal systemic absorption. Avoid concurrent use with other topical preparations on same area unless directed. Allow sufficient time between applications if using multiple skin products.

How should I store it?

Store below 25°C. Keep tube tightly closed. Protect from direct light and excessive heat. Do not freeze. Discard 14 days after opening.
