Mopibac Mupirocin Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections including impetigo, folliculitis, and minor wound infections. It helps eliminate common pathogens like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. This topical antibiotic also prevents infection progression in small cuts, abrasions, and areas of minor skin trauma.

Side Effects

Mopibac Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include: localized burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Some users may experience mild pain, redness, or rash. Rare reactions involve severe irritation, allergic contact dermatitis, or secondary fungal infections requiring discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply thin layer to affected area 3 times daily. Maximum daily applications: 3
  • Children (2-11 years): Apply thin layer to affected area 3 times daily. Maximum daily applications: 3
  • Infants (1-23 months): Apply sparingly 2-3 times daily under medical supervision

Not recommended for newborns under 1 month. Maximum treatment duration: 10 days. Apply only to intact skin or minor open wounds covering less than 100cm² total area.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol base. Avoid use on large open wounds, surgical incisions, or severe burns requiring systemic treatment.

Special Precautions

  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mucous membranes
  • Discontinue if signs of allergic reaction develop
  • Do not apply with occlusive dressings unless directed
  • Use cautiously around sensitive skin areas

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

No significant interactions with systemic medications reported. Avoid concurrent topical treatments on the same area unless directed. Allow 30 minutes between different topical applications.

How should I store it?

Store below 25°C in original container. Keep tightly closed and protect from direct light. Discard if ointment changes color, consistency, or develops unusual odor.
