Indications / Uses

Microscot Mupirocin Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections like impetigo, folliculitis, and small wound infections. It helps eliminate common pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. This topical antibiotic also aids in preventing infection progression in minor cuts and abrasions.

Side Effects

Microscot Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include: localized burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Some users may experience mild pain or rash. Rare reactions involve severe irritation, allergic contact dermatitis, or secondary fungal infections requiring discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply thin layer to affected area 3 times daily. Maximum daily applications: 3
• Children (1-11 years): Apply thin layer to affected area 3 times daily. Maximum daily applications: 3

Not recommended for infants under 1 year. Maximum treatment duration: 10 days. Apply only to intact skin or minor open wounds covering less than 10cm² total area.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol base. Avoid use on large open wounds, surgical incisions, or severe burns requiring systemic antibiotics.

Special Precautions

• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mucous membranes
• Discontinue if signs of allergic reaction develop
• Do not apply to deep puncture wounds or animal bites
• Use cautiously around sensitive skin areas

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

No significant interactions with systemic medications reported. Avoid concurrent topical treatments on the same area unless directed. Allow 30 minutes between different topical applications.

How should I store it?

Store below 25°C in original container. Keep tightly closed and protect from direct light. Discard if ointment changes color or consistency.
