Indications / Uses

FUSIFRED Fusidic Acid Cream is used for the topical management of various primary and secondary skin infections caused by bacteria sensitive to the active ingredient, such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. This includes conditions like impetigo (a highly contagious skin infection), infected wounds, and folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles). It is also effective for treating common skin conditions like furuncles, carbuncles, paronychia, and erythrasma. The cream acts as a potent antibacterial agent, preventing the growth of susceptible organisms to clear the infection.

Side Effects

FUSIFRED Fusidic Acid Cream common side effects include various reactions at the application site, such as mild irritation, burning sensations, or stinging. Other localized effects may involve itching, discomfort, or the development of a rash on the treated skin area. While generally rare, some individuals may experience more significant skin reactions like contact dermatitis or a general allergic reaction. If irritation persists or worsens, use should be discontinued.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults and Kids (All Ages): Apply a thin layer to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily.

Treatment should generally be continued for 7 days. Prolonged use exceeding 14 days is not recommended. If the treated area is covered with a sterile dressing, the frequency of application may be reduced to 1 or 2 times daily, as appropriate.

Contraindications

Use is contraindicated for individuals with a known history of allergy or hypersensitivity to the primary active substance or any of the inactive materials found in the topical formulation. It should not be used to treat infections caused by non-susceptible organisms, particularly certain types of bacteria or fungi.

Special Precautions

• Avoid applying the cream directly to the eyes or the immediate surrounding area to prevent irritation.
• Extended or repeated use of topical anti-infectives may increase the risk of developing resistance by microorganisms.
• When treating facial skin, extra care should be taken to prevent accidental transfer to the eye, as this could cause an inflammatory reaction.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Due to the method of application directly to the skin, systemic absorption into the bloodstream is minimal. Therefore, significant interactions with other medicines taken orally or injected are not expected. The potential for drug interactions is considered low.

How should I store it?

This topical product should be kept in a cool, dry place away from heat. Ensure that the storage temperature does not go above 30°C to maintain its stability and effectiveness over time.
