Indications / Uses

Bactifree Mupirocin Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections including impetigo, folliculitis, and minor wound infections. It targets gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. The ointment also helps prevent infection in minor surgical wounds, cuts, and abrasions.

Formulation / Ingredients
Bactifree Mupirocin Ointment contains: Mupirocin 2% (20mg per gram) + Polyethylene glycol base.

Side Effects

Bactifree Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include: burning, stinging, or itching at the application site. Less frequently, users may experience redness, dryness, or mild swelling. Severe allergic reactions like rash or hives require immediate discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults & Adolescents (12+ years): Apply thin layer 3 times daily. Max: 10 days continuous use.
• Children 1-12 years: Apply small amount 3 times daily. Max: 7 days continuous use.

Not recommended for infants under 1 year. Avoid large open wounds. If no improvement occurs within 3-5 days, discontinue use.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol. Avoid use on severe burns, deep puncture wounds, or animal bites.

Special Precautions

• For external use only - avoid contact with eyes/nose/mouth
• Discontinue if severe irritation develops
• Do not cover treated area with airtight dressings

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

No significant interactions reported. Avoid concurrent application with other topical products without medical advice. Allow 1-hour gap between applications.

How should I store it?

Store below 25°C. Keep tube tightly closed. Protect from direct sunlight. Discard 28 days after opening.
