It targets gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. The ointment is also effective for secondary infected traumatic lesions caused by susceptible strains.

Side Effects

ACCEBACT Mupirocin Ointment common side effects include mild burning, itching, or stinging at the application site. Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash, swelling, or severe skin irritation may occur. Discontinue use if blistering or excessive dryness develops.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply a thin layer to affected area 2-3 times daily. Maximum duration: 10 days.
  • Children 2–12 years: Apply sparingly 3 times daily. Avoid large surface areas.

Not recommended for infants under 2 years without medical guidance. Do not use for more than 10 days to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol. Avoid use on severe burns, deep puncture wounds, or mucous membranes.

Special Precautions

  • Discontinue if systemic allergic reactions occur.
  • Avoid contact with eyes or nasal passages unless directed.
