Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet daily.
This formulation is not typically recommended for children under 18 years old unless specifically advised. For the treatment of deficiency, the duration is usually several months to replenish the body's stores.
Contraindications
This product should not be used by individuals who have experienced a previous severe reaction or allergy to any of the components. It is also contraindicated in cases of iron overload syndromes such as hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis. Use is inappropriate for patients with certain anemias, specifically pernicious anemia, which is caused by a different underlying deficiency.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
It is indicated for use during this period to prevent or treat deficiencies, as nutritional requirements for the components increase significantly. Both components pass into breast milk; however, use is generally considered beneficial for both mother and developing child.
Special Precautions
- Accidental overdose of products containing the mineral component is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6 years. Keep this product strictly out of their reach.
- The vitamin component may conceal the symptoms of a serious deficiency in B-group vitamins, allowing neurological symptoms to worsen untreated.
- Caution should be exercised in individuals with existing stomach or bowel diseases, such as ulcers or regional inflammation.
- Avoid use if receiving frequent blood transfusions, as this can lead to excessive build-up of the mineral.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Wait at least 2 hours between taking this supplement and consuming certain products like antacids, dairy foods, tea, and coffee, as they significantly hinder absorption. This product also decreases the effectiveness of several medications, including some antibiotics, thyroid treatments, and drugs used for bone conditions. Certain drugs for seizures may also interact with the vitamin component.
