Side Effects
VENTOMAX Salbutamol 2mg common side effects include: tremor, headache, nervousness, rapid heartbeat, palpitations, muscle cramps, and dizziness. Rarely, allergic reactions and paradoxical bronchospasm may occur. Hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, and insomnia can also develop, especially with high dosages or prolonged use.Directions and Dosage
- Adults (18+ years): 2-4 mg 3-4 times daily. Maximum: 8 mg 3-4 times daily as tolerated.
- Elderly: Start with 2 mg 3 or 4 times daily.
- Kids 6–12 years: 2 mg 3-4 times daily.
- Kids 2–6 years: 1-2 mg 3-4 times daily.
Not recommended for children under 2. Dose adjustment is suggested for the elderly. Maximum treatment duration depends on the indication and monitoring of therapy.
Contraindications
History or risk of ischaemic heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, under 22 weeks gestation, or conditions where pregnancy prolongation is hazardous.Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Should not be used in pregnancy below 22 weeks or when prolonging pregnancy is considered unsafe. Use with caution if breastfeeding.Special Precautions
- Monitor for cardiovascular disorders or arrhythmias.
- Caution in diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and glaucoma.
- Risk of hypokalemia, especially with high doses or in combination with other drugs.
- Adjustments for elderly or those with renal impairment.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Concurrent use with corticosteroids, diuretics, or xanthines can increase the risk of hypokalemia. Beta-blockers may reduce its effectiveness, and combination with MAOIs or TCAs may enhance cardiovascular effects.How should I store it?
