Indications/Uses
Anastrozole is indicated for the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Should be used in a dose of 1 mg daily or as directed by the physician.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
The use of Anastrozole is contra-indicated in pre-menopausal women. It is not known whether it can be safely given to patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment, or severe renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbance including anorexia, nausea & vomiting & diarrhea; asthenia; hot flushes; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; rash. Hair thinning, vag dryness or bleeding, oedema, myalgia & arthralgia, fever, thrombophlebitis, leucopenia & flu-like syndrome. Abnormalities in liver enzyme values (in some patients).

Action
Pharmacology: Pharmacokinetics: Anastrozole is generally well tolerated and the most frequent adverse effects are gastro-intestinal disturbances including anorexia, nausea and vomiting, and diarrhea; asthenia; hot flushes; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; and rash. Other reported effects including hair thinning, vaginal dryness or bleeding, oedema, myalgia and arthralgia, fever, thrombophlebitis, leucopenia, and flu-like syndrome. Abnormalities in liver enzyme values have occurred in some patients receiving Anastrozole.
