Indications/Uses
GI spasm particularly that associated w/ the irritable bowel movement syndrome. Adjunct in the treatment of peptic (gastric or duodenal ulcer).
For various painful conditions such as gastrointestinal spasm, irritable colon, spastic constipation, infant colic, biliary colic, urinary colic.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syrup: Adults: 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5 mL-10 mL) three or four times daily.
Children: 6 months-2 yrs: ½-1 teaspoon (2.5 mL-5 mL) three or four times daily before feeding.
2-12 yrs: 1 teaspoonful three times daily. Or as prescribed by the physician.
Tablet: Adults: Two tablets three times a day before or after meals.
Children: 1-2 tablets or as prescribed by the physician.

Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
It should not be given to patients with closed angle glaucoma or to patients with a narrow angle between the iris or cornea, since its use may increase the intra-ocular pressure.
Adverse Reactions
Side effects of Dicycloverine and other antimuscarinic agents include dryness of the mouth with difficulty in swallowing and talking, thirst, dilatation of the pupils with loss of accommodation and photophobia, flushing and dryness of the skin, transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia, with palpitations and arrhythmias, and urinary urgency, difficulty and retention, as well as reduction in the tone and motility of the gastro-intestinal tract leading to constipation. Occasionally vomiting, giddiness, and staggering may occur. Retrosternal pain may occur due to increased gastric reflux. Considerable controversy still surrounds the risk to the fetus during pregnancy because of threatened litigation.
