Indications / Uses

OZEMPIC Semaglutide 0.5mg is used for the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise. It functions by improving glycemic control and reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, such as heart attack or stroke, in patients with established cardiovascular disease. This once-weekly injection effectively mimics natural hormones to regulate blood sugar levels and manage long-term health outcomes.

Side Effects

OZEMPIC Semaglutide 0.5mg common side effects include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and constipation. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children and adolescents under 18 years. Maximum daily dosage: Not applicable, as this is a once-weekly medication. Treatment duration: Long-term management for chronic condition.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). Patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Special Precautions

  • Do not use for type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Increased risk of diabetic retinopathy complications in patients with a history of the condition.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of pancreatitis.
  • Potential for dehydration due to gastrointestinal side effects; maintain adequate fluid intake.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Delayed gastric emptying may affect the absorption of other oral medicinal products. Increased risk of low blood sugar when combined with a sulfonylurea or insulin.

How should I store it?

Before use, store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. After first use, store below 30°C or in a refrigerator for up to 56 days.
