RISPESAPH-2 Risperidone 2mg is used for the comprehensive management of schizophrenia, including acute episodes and long-term maintenance treatment. It is also indicated for treating moderate to severe manic episodes associated with bipolar disorders in adults and adolescents. For children from 5 years and adolescents with subaverage intellectual functioning or mental retardation, this medication addresses conduct disorder involving prominent destructive behaviors. Additionally, it may be used for the short-term treatment of persistent aggression in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's dementia who have not responded to other management approaches.

Side Effects

RISPESAPH-2 Risperidone 2mg common side effects include: insomnia, sedation, headache, and somnolence. Other frequent effects involve dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and dry mouth. Directions and Dosage

  • Dosage for Adults (Bipolar Mania): Initial dosage is 2-3 mg once daily. The daily dosage is generally maintained below 6 mg.
  • Dosage for Adolescents 13–17 years (Schizophrenia): Initial dosage is 0.5 mg once daily. Do not exceed 6 mg in 24 hours.
  • Dosage for Kids 10–17 years (Bipolar Mania): Initial dosage is 0.5 mg once daily. Do not exceed 6 mg in 24 hours.
  • Dosage for Kids 5–16 years (Autism-Irritability): Starting dose is 0.5 mg per day for those weighing 20 kg or more, or 0.25 mg per day for those weighing less than 20 kg.

Not recommended for children under 5 years old. For aggression in certain cases of dementia, treatment duration is typically short-term, not exceeding 6 weeks.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in individuals who have a known extreme sensitivity or allergy to the components of the product. It should be avoided in older individuals experiencing a mental illness related to dementia, particularly if they have existing cardiovascular risk factors, such as a history of heart failure or a recent heart attack.

Special Precautions

  • Risk of developing low blood pressure when standing up, particularly at the start of treatment, requiring careful monitoring.
  • Exercise caution in individuals with pre-existing heart, blood vessel, or brain conditions, or those prone to dehydration.
  • Increased risk of stroke-like events has been observed in older patients with a specific type of memory decline.
  • Use with careful consideration in patients with Parkinson's disease or a history of convulsions.
  • May cause drowsiness, affecting the ability to perform tasks requiring full alertness.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?
