Description

Indications / Uses

PROLOL Metoprolol 50mg is used for the long-term management of high blood pressure, which effectively helps to lower cardiovascular strain and prevent associated complications. This medication is a primary treatment option for individuals experiencing persistent chest pain (angina pectoris) to reduce the frequency and severity of episodes. Furthermore, it is applied to stabilize various irregular heart rhythms and can serve as a prophylactic agent to reduce the occurrence of migraine headaches.

Formulation / Ingredients

PROLOL Metoprolol 50mg contains: Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg

Do I need prescription to buy PROLOL Metoprolol 50mg?

Yes, you need a prescription. But if you don't have one, you can get a free teleconsultation from MedsGo Physician. Just make an order and our Physician will call you back.

Side Effects

PROLOL Metoprolol 50mg common side effects include: a general feeling of tiredness and fatigue, dizziness, and the sensation of coldness in the hands and feet due to temporary changes in blood circulation. Frequent, less serious effects may involve the gastrointestinal system, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort. More notable reactions, although less frequent, can affect the heart, including a noticeable slowing of the heart rate, or the nervous system, potentially causing sleep disturbances, nightmares, or feelings of depression and confusion.

Directions and Dosage

  • Dosage for Adults (18+ years - High Blood Pressure): Initial daily dosage is typically 100 mg. The maintenance dosage is usually between 100 mg to 200 mg daily.
  • Dosage for Adults (Angina Pectoris or Arrhythmias): Initial dosage is 50 mg two or three times daily. The usual effective daily dosage range is 100 mg to 400 mg in divided doses.

Do not exceed a maximum daily dosage of 400 mg. Not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years for the management of high blood pressure. Treatment duration is typically long-term for chronic conditions.

Contraindications

Use of this product is strictly forbidden in the presence of unmanaged severe cardiac insufficiency or certain serious heart rhythm defects, specifically high-degree blockages in the heart's electrical system or an extremely slow resting heart rate. It is also contraindicated in those with severe asthma or other significant obstructive airway illnesses, as well as in individuals experiencing a severe metabolic acid imbalance.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

The substance is known to cross into the placenta and may be associated with reduced blood flow, potentially leading to a slow heart rate or low blood sugar in the developing or newborn child. It is also transferred into the mother's milk, which carries a theoretical risk of causing a slow heart rate in the nursing child.

Special Precautions

  • Abruptly stopping the regimen must be avoided, as it can severely worsen underlying heart conditions.
  • Use with caution in individuals with pre-existing mild breathing difficulties or impaired kidney or liver function.
  • The substance may conceal the characteristic signs of low blood sugar or an overactive thyroid.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

The simultaneous use of other heart rhythm regulators or specific blood pressure-lowering agents may significantly increase the risk of an excessively slow heart rate or severe lowering of blood pressure. The effects of certain medications used to increase alertness or blood flow may be counteracted by this product.

How should I store it?

Store in its container at a controlled room temperature. Protect the product from light and excessive moisture.
