ENTRESTO Sacubitril - Valsartan 200mg is used for the treatment of symptomatic chronic heart failure in adult patients with reduced ejection fraction. It helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization by improving the heart's ability to pump blood throughout the body. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic heart failure in pediatric patients aged 1 year and older to reduce the worsening of heart failure symptoms and improve physical activity levels.

Side Effects
ENTRESTO Sacubitril - Valsartan 200mg common side effects include: low blood pressure (hypotension), high potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia), and decreased kidney function. Some patients may also experience cough, dizziness, or localized swelling of the skin and mucous membranes known as angioedema. Fatigue and fainting are also possible as the body adjusts to the medication's effect on blood pressure.
Directions and Dosage
- Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet twice daily. Target maintenance dose is 200mg twice daily as tolerated.
- Kids 1 year and older (weighing more than 50kg): 1 tablet twice daily. Dosage is adjusted based on weight and tolerability.
Not recommended for children under 1 year old. Maximum daily dosage: 400mg. Treatment duration is typically long-term for chronic heart failure management.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component. History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB therapy. Concurrent use with ACE inhibitors or aliskiren in patients with diabetes. Severe hepatic impairment, biliary cirrhosis, and cholestasis.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause fetal harm or death. Not recommended during breastfeeding as it is unknown if the components pass into human milk.
Special Precautions
- Regular monitoring of serum potassium and renal function is necessary.
- Caution is required in patients with severe renal impairment or those on a sodium-restricted diet.
- Monitor blood pressure closely during the initiation of therapy to avoid symptomatic hypotension.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Do not use within 36 hours of taking an ACE inhibitor. Interactions may occur with potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which may further impact kidney function or potassium levels.
How should I store it?
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from moisture by keeping the tablets in the original blister pack until use.
