MOXYLOR Amoxicillin 250mg / 5mL Powder for Suspension is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections including upper and lower respiratory tract infections like sinusitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis. It is also indicated for the management of genitourinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and acute uncomplicated gonorrhea. This broad-spectrum antibiotic works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to the elimination of susceptible microorganisms in both pediatric and adult patients.

Side Effects
MOXYLOR Amoxicillin 250mg / 5mL Powder for Suspension common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and indigestion. Some users may develop skin rashes, urticaria, or pruritus. Rare but serious reactions include anaphylaxis, pseudomembranous colitis, and transient leucopenia or thrombocytopenia. Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms like fungi.
Directions and Dosage
- Adults and Adolescents: 250 mg to 500 mg (5 mL to 10 mL) every 8 hours.
- Dosage for Kids 6–12 years: 250 mg (5 mL) every 8 hours.
- Dosage for Kids 1–6 years: 125 mg to 250 mg (2.5 mL to 5 mL) every 8 hours.
- Dosage for Infants under 1 year: 62.5 mg to 125 mg (1.25 mL to 2.5 mL) every 8 hours.
For severe infections, the dosage may be doubled. Treatment should be continued for 48 to 72 hours after the patient becomes asymptomatic. Maximum treatment duration for most infections is 7 to 14 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins or any beta-lactam antibiotics. It is strictly prohibited for patients with a history of severe immediate hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, carbapenems, or monobactams. Avoid use in patients with infectious mononucleosis due to high risk of erythematous rash.
Special Precautions
- Periodic assessment of renal, hepatic, and hematopoietic functions is recommended during prolonged therapy.
- Maintain adequate fluid intake and urinary output to reduce the risk of crystalluria.
- Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergy or asthma.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Probenecid decreases the renal tubular secretion of the active ingredient, leading to increased blood levels. It may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives and interact with anticoagulants like warfarin, increasing bleeding time.
How should I store it?
Store dry powder below 30°C. After reconstitution, keep the suspension in a refrigerator and discard any unused portion after 14 days.
