It is effective against susceptible strains of organisms that cause ear, nose, and throat infections like tonsillitis and sinusitis. Additionally, it is utilized in treating acute uncomplicated gonorrhea and as part of a combination regimen for H. pylori eradication to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence.

Side Effects
AMBIMOX Amoxicillin 500mg common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rashes or urticaria. Some individuals may experience indigestion, dizziness, or the development of oral thrush with prolonged use. Serious but rare reactions include Stevens-Johnson syndrome and pseudomembranous colitis characterized by severe persistent diarrhea.
Directions and Dosage
- Adults (18+ years): 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours, or 500 mg to 875 mg every 12 hours depending on infection severity.
- Adolescents and Kids (Weight 40 kg or more): 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours.
- Kids and Infants (3 months to 12 years, weight less than 40 kg): 20 to 45 mg/kg daily in divided doses every 8 to 12 hours.
- Infants (Under 3 months): Maximum 30 mg/kg daily in divided doses every 12 hours.
Maximum treatment duration: 7 to 14 days for most infections. Always complete the full course even if symptoms disappear early.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to penicillins or any of the product components. It is also contraindicated for patients with a history of severe immediate hypersensitivity reactions to other beta-lactam agents, such as cephalosporins, carbapenems, or monobactams.
Special Precautions
- Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.
- Adjust dosage in patients with severe renal impairment.
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.
- Maintain adequate fluid intake to reduce the risk of crystalluria.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Concurrent use with probenecid may increase blood levels of the antibiotic. It may decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and interfere with the action of anticoagulants like warfarin.

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light and keep the container tightly closed in a dry place.
