Indications / Uses

DYLAX Bisacodyl 5mg is used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation and for the evacuation of the colon. It works as a stimulant laxative that acts directly on the colonic mucosa to produce peristalsis, helping to facilitate a bowel movement. This medication is also utilized in clinical settings for bowel cleansing before surgical procedures, radiologic examinations, or other medical investigations that require an empty intestinal tract.

Side Effects

DYLAX Bisacodyl 5mg common side effects include: abdominal discomfort, cramping, and nausea. Some users may experience diarrhea, vomiting, or localized irritation in the rectal area. Prolonged use or high doses can lead to fluid and electrolyte imbalances, such as low potassium levels. Most side effects are temporary and subside once the bowel has been emptied.

Intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal conditions including appendicitis or acute inflammatory bowel diseases, and severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe dehydration and known hypersensitivity to the active component.

  • Maintain adequate fluid intake while using stimulant laxatives to prevent dehydration.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Concurrent use with diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance. Antacids and certain heart medications may interact with the enteric coating or affect absorption.
