It is effective in conditions associated with disturbed bronchial secretions and difficulty in clearing mucus. It acts as a mucolytic, thinning and breaking up thick phlegm to make coughing it up easier, which can help clear congestion in the respiratory tract.

Side Effects

MUCOSOLVAN Ambroxol 30mg common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and diarrhea. You may also experience dryness of the mouth or throat, or a changed sense of taste. In rare instances, more severe reactions such as rash, urticaria, or other hypersensitivity reactions may occur. These effects are usually mild, and taking the tablet after a meal can often help reduce stomach discomfort.

Directions and Dosage

It is generally recommended to take this orally, preferably after a meal.

  • Dosage for Adults and Adolescents over 12 years: 1 tablet (30 mg) taken 2 to 3 times daily. The daily dosage typically ranges from 30 mg to a maximum of 120 mg, taken in 2 or 3 divided doses.

For children 12 years and younger, liquid formulations are generally more appropriate for accurate dosing. The maximum treatment duration without further assessment is usually 4 to 5 days.

Contraindications

Do not use this product if there is a known history of hypersensitivity or allergy to the active ingredient or any other component in the formulation. Caution is advised for individuals with a history of gastric ulceration.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

It is generally recommended to avoid using this product during the first trimester of pregnancy. Since the active substance is excreted in breast milk, it is not recommended for use in nursing mothers.

Special Precautions

  • Take special caution if you have a history of peptic ulceration or severe kidney or liver disease.
  • The combination with cough suppressants may lead to a buildup of secretions due to the impaired cough reflex, so this should be considered carefully.
  • Immediately stop use and seek assistance if you develop a new skin lesion (rash) or other signs of an allergic reaction.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Taking the active ingredient with certain antibiotics, such as amoxicillin, cefuroxime, or erythromycin, can lead to higher concentrations of the antibiotic in the lung secretions. If you are taking any cough suppressants, use caution as this combination may cause an unwanted accumulation of secretions. Inform your provider about all other medications you are currently using.

How should I store it?

Store the tablets at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep this product in a location where it is not reachable by children, and away from moisture.
