BONAMINE is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. It is also indicated for the management of vertigo in diseases affecting the vestibular system. This medication is an antihistamine that works by reducing the activity of histamine in the body, which helps to alleviate these symptoms. Meclizine 25mg, the active ingredient, effectively targets the inner ear, where balance is regulated.
Side-effects
BONAMINE common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, and occasionally blurred vision. Less frequent side effects may involve constipation, headache, or fatigue.
Dosage / Direction
Adults and children above 11 yrs old:
[Motion sickness] Take 1-2 tablets (25-50 mg) one hour before travel for 24-hr protection.
[Nausea and vomiting] Take 1-2 tablets (25-50 mg) per day
[Labyrinthine and vestibular disturbances] Take 1-4 tablets (25-100 mg) per day
[Radiation sickness] Take 2 tablets (50 mg) 2-12 hours prior to radiation therapy, or as directed by the doctor.
Tablets may be chewed or swallowed whole with water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to meclizine or any component of the formulation. This product should not be given to patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to meclizine or to any of its components.
Special Precautions
Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as BONAMINE can cause drowsiness. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, as it can intensify the sedative effects. Use with caution in patients with asthma, glaucoma, or an enlarged prostate. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medication.
Is it safe to take it with other drugs?
BONAMINE can interact with other medications, particularly those that cause drowsiness, such as sedatives, tranquilizers, and other antihistamines. Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are currently taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
How should I store it?
Store BONAMINE at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication in its original container, tightly closed, and out of reach of children.
