Side Effects
HYDRITE ORS Sachet common side effects include: mild nausea or vomiting if the solution is consumed too quickly. While rare, excessive intake of salts can lead to hypernatremia or hyperkalemia, which may manifest as puffiness of the eyelids or increased thirst. Directions and Dosage
Dissolve 1 sachet in 200 mL of drinking water.
- Dosage for Infants 0–12 months: 50 to 100 mL after every loose stool.
- Dosage for Kids 1–4 years: 100 to 200 mL after every loose stool.
- Dosage for Kids 5–12 years: 200 mL after every loose stool.
- Dosage for Adults (12+ years): 200 to 400 mL after every loose stool.
Administer the solution in small, frequent sips. Discard any unused portion after 24 hours if refrigerated, or after 1 hour at room temperature.
Contraindications
Do not use in cases of intestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus, or perforated bowel. It is not suitable for individuals with severe persistent vomiting, severe dehydration requiring intravenous therapy, or impaired renal function where salt balance cannot be regulated.
Special Precautions
- Monitor for signs of worsening dehydration or inability to drink during the course of treatment.
- Ensure the powder is dissolved in the exact volume of water specified to avoid electrolyte imbalance.
- Use with caution in patients on a salt-restricted diet or those with heart failure.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
