Indications / Uses

AMBILYTE ORS Sachet is used for the replacement of fluid and electrolytes lost due to diarrhea and vomiting. It helps prevent dehydration and maintains the body’s water and salt balance in cases of acute gastroenteritis. This orange-flavored oral rehydration salt is specifically formulated to promote the rapid absorption of essential nutrients from the intestinal tract to support recovery from fluid loss in both children and adults.

Side Effects

AMBILYTE ORS Sachet common side effects include: mild gastrointestinal upset or vomiting if the solution is consumed too quickly. Over-consumption of electrolytes may lead to hypernatremia, which can cause puffiness around the eyes or excessive thirst. Significant adverse reactions are generally uncommon when the solution is prepared and used as recommended for fluid replacement.

Directions and Dosage

Dissolve 1 sachet in 200 mL of clean drinking water.

  • Dosage for Infants 0–12 months: 50 to 100 mL after every loose stool.
  • Dosage for Kids 1–4 years: 100 to 200 mL after every loose stool.
  • Dosage for Kids 5–12 years: 200 mL after every loose stool.
  • Dosage for Adults (12+ years): 200 to 400 mL after every loose stool.

Maximum treatment duration: Continue as long as diarrhea persists. Use 24 hours for dissolved solution if refrigerated, or 1 hour at room temperature.

Contraindications

Avoid use in individuals with intestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus, or bowel perforation. It is not suitable for those with severe persistent vomiting, renal failure, or conditions where oral rehydration is insufficient to treat severe dehydration.

Special Precautions

  • Ensure the sachet is dissolved in the exact amount of water required to maintain correct electrolyte concentration.
  • Monitor for persistent vomiting or inability to drink, which may require medical intervention.
  • Exercise caution in patients on a low-sodium or low-potassium diet.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?
