CALMOSEPTINE Zinc Oxide / Calamine Ointment is used for the protection and relief of various minor skin irritations and conditions. This soothing ointment helps promote the healing of impaired skin integrity associated with persistent moisture, such as diaper rash, bedsores, and skin irritations from urinary or fecal incontinence. It acts as a protective barrier against external irritants while also being indicated for the temporary relief of itching and discomfort from minor burns, scrapes, insect bites, and eczema. The formulation aids in managing skin maceration around wound drainage or stoma sites.

Side Effects

CALMOSEPTINE Zinc Oxide / Calamine Ointment common side effects include: mild skin irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application. Directions and Dosage

  • Adolescents, Children, and Infants: Apply to the affected skin area 2 to 4 times daily, or as needed, such as with each diaper change.

Maximum treatment duration is 7 days. If symptoms do not improve within this period, discontinue use.

Contraindications

Avoid use if known hypersensitivity to the components exists. Do not apply on deep or puncture wounds, open or large sores, or severely injured or infected skin.

Special Precautions

  • For external use only.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
  • Discontinue application if symptoms worsen or fail to improve after 7 days of continuous use.
  • Avoid applying occlusive dressings, bandages, or tight clothes over the treated area.
